I would like just to share with you all a shim size calculator I wrote. I believe it is a bit handier than the chart since it allows one to plug in actual sizes of current shims (perhaps measured with a micrometer) and then round the final shim size instead of rounding from the beginning, thus allowing for more accurate shim choices.

Any feedback of what other features you might like on such calculator is appreciated. For instance I'd like to add a "print out" feature soon. It is very rough yet, as I wrote it in a hurry, but will try to make it a bit more user friendly.

    The calculator is temporarily here:

    Thank you all.

Thanks Robert, I'm not sure what you're referring to about submitting it to Snowsheriff; what would I submit? I'm willing of course to give the source code so that it is posted somewhere here, if he considers it's worth it. I'll add more features if people ask. It's a very simple javascript. Well, even if another person finds it useful I'm glad.
    Best regards.

Add it to the links section if it will be available in the future.

I'll pm snowsheriff and give him the link if he thinks it might be useful.

Thanks for the kind words Robert.

I updated the link where the calculator will stay for the long term.

    http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~relu/tools/shimcalc.html

However, Snosheriff is looking into keeping a version of the calculator right here to be more handy.

    Cheers.
