Fellow 550 owners (Seca and Max) please take a look at your clutch cover if you would (note the area to the rear of the lever, completely different shapes) and tell us if you have the Early Style:

    Or the Later Style:

If you would please respond with: Early or late; Seca or Max; and month/year of manufacture if known (more relevant than model year.)

    Thanks in advance---Fitz

What are you getting at? Are the new and old interchangable?

Oh, completely. The part number didn't change, same gasket, etc. I noticed the difference, asked Chacal, he hadn't even noticed it. It has SOMETHING to do with the shape of the passages (it's actually a "maze") that lead to the breather vent. Most of the photos in the factory book match the "early" style; some of the photos in other manuals are the "later" style. The "later" cover in the pic is on my '83, it is actually a replacement from eBay off a Max of unknown vintage but it matched the original. This is just another 'anal restoration research' question, I'm trying to figure out when it changed over.

Answering my own post: Late/83 Seca (RK)/5-82 and Early/81 Seca (RH)/12-80

    Whatchoo got?
