need a link or how to on filling brake line

Front brake line has no fluid in it. I hooked it up unplugged the drain nipple squeeze the brake lever with fluid in the MC and get nothing. I need help.

 

You need to create a preasurized system.

You will probably best to have a helper, or a quick bleeder.

Fill the master cylander. Put the lid on.

Person A - open the bleed valve
Person B - squeeze - hold
Person A - tighen bleed valve
Person B - let brake go

REPEAT

DO NOT LET THE MASTER CYLANDER GET EMPTY. At first ALOT of fluid will go into the line - so check the window every pump. After refilling it the first time just keep the fluid visible in the master cylander window.

If you can not see through the mastercylander window and the OUTSIDE is opague - clean it with a soft cloth and a fingernail behind it.

The other thing - the rubber bit that the plunger of the brake lever pushes - make sure that isn't damaged and is properly being squeezed by the brake lever and coming back when the lever isn't being squeezed. Otherwise you won't get any pumping action from the lever. No pumping means no braking

 

Oh keep repeating until no more air comes out... waste a tiny bit of fluid by pumping a couple of times more than the last time air comes out. It is relatively cheap.

 

ok thanks going to try all this tommorow probably. Its actually a ninja 250 master cylinder on a cb450 so i dont know if thats going to cause any problems. I know for a fact the MC works though and I had it laying around.

 

Mityvac brake bleeder+crack banjo bolt @master cylinder to use as a bleeder (wrap fitting with rag).

 

I've not had much success with the vaccum bleed (bought the Mighty Vac too). I still revert back to the tried and true pump, squeeze, open valve, close valve, repeat method. It is, in my experience, the only way to get fluid into a dry line.

 

Don't forget with empty lines you will not get fluid immediatly , just keep lookin in master cyl and make shure the level is goin down....

 

Though I haven't done it on my XJ yet (stainless steels lines....someday!) this was the only way to get the lines on my 84' Olds Delta full of fluid.

I'd imagine the same principles apply.

 

Same process with the 250 mastercylander... just makes sure all of the fittings are good and that the cover is fitting properly.
