    Hi everybody

I'm in Portugal... in here XJ Maxim's are very very rares!!

I've found a 82 Maxim 750 Canadian Specs... but the owner is asking to much for it... it's going to be a hard negotiation... but i'm not giving up!!

I've found also something quite strange... an YP 750... but i don't know this... is this a Maxim upgrade??

    Thanks

    Pedro

    That doesn't look bad,but it's home-made.
The side covers end abruply, a Maxim fender has been painted,
Headlight and gauge improvements- - It works.

    Welcome !

added-- It's a Seca, it has an oil cooler also.

Thats a Seca. The maxim seat ends at the tank bolt. The Seca seat covers over much of the tank.

It appears to be very well maintained from appearances.

    Is this a SECA?

I made a call to the guy thats selling it

He said that is '91 and belonged to the Road Patrol of Portuguese National Guard. But I think is asking to much for it

    Thanks

The blue bike in your photos IS a Seca. However, it has been changed a bit from the original. The round headlight, analog gauges and tubular handlebar are all non-stock items. You can check the date of manufacture on the label on the steering head, I am very suspicious of it actually being a '91.

The wheels are identical to the 1982 Maxim wheels.
How long did Yamaha make these swooshy cast aluminum rims?

    Yeah,

I think that the guy is making fun of me...

that isn't '91... probably it has '91 civilian plates (the nacional Guard has it's own plates)

But i'm in love with the Maxim (my neighbour's), but that guy want's $2000 USD for aMaxim that is full of spiderwebs, and doesn't work since 2000?!?

    My quest is just beginning

Not sure for how long exactly, at least through the genesis of the XJ line. The Seca 750 had them all along; the Seca 550 had straight spokes while the 550 Max had the scimitar rims, I think the 650's had them too, both Seca and Max.

If you bought the blue bike, you could finish it's "Maximization" (?) by buying a gas tank (a direct bolt-on) and side covers and re-shape the seat to match.

The side covers would need new mounts on the frame.

I didn't bought the blue one... I don't like to be joked ('91??)

Anyway, it's hard to find Maxim parts in Portugal... probably It would have to be used a 1100 Virago tank.

I will try to buy the other o know... but not by the price he asks!!! If is not that, It wont be any!!! I cant't afford spend money in a younger motorcycle... I don't have the time to enjoy it!!

    Wish me luck

    Pedro
