looking to find a (cheap) choke (i know not the proper term) to put on the frame rather than the stock handle bar adjuster. Like they have on (new anyways) sportys. An effort to get rid of my headlight/signal/horn/choke cluster on the bars. I havent done the google/ebay search yet, looking to see what you guys think/found first. thanks, Lou

Mine is a universal pull out choke knob for a lawn mower, mounted under my key switch on a metal plate welded to the frame behind the engine. I need to get some pictures of it.

good stuff thanks guys. Like the metal plate welded to frame idea, especially as I still have my start button dangling from my harness.

Where did "busa" come from? I think Tomcat was talking about BSA - the british motorcycles.

Lou, If you can't find a place for a starter button, you can always do what I did-bypass all the cut out switches, drill a hole in the LH side cover and put it there. I've had this set up for about a year and it works very well, and is easy to use.

I use no choke lever, just reach down on the carbs and grab where the cable usually connects. It's really not inconvenient at all unless you want to choke it and run back in the house for something. It's spring loaded and returns to the off position when released.

+1 on what keveneleven said...unless its really cold out not a problem to just hold it till its good to go...cold out you could be holding it for a minute since you cant leave it up while going down the st real well

The only other time holding the choke open manually is a pain is if you have to run-start the bike for some reason or another - believe me, I've tried it...
