Looking for a front left caliper for a 82 XJ 650J; piston must be rust free & able to move freely inside caliper body. Inside of caliper must be free of corrosion too. Will rebuild.

A cherry left front XJ 750 caliper would also be considered, or a rust free piston for a 750 caliper.

    Thanks, guys!

Just to be sure... there's only one caliper on the XJ 650J Maxim (and it is on the left). Does your bike have one or two front calipers?

Your piston is Yamaha pn 2G2-W0057-00-00 and it was used in the 650J/K/LH, XV(not XJ)750, XJ1100 ('81-82) XV920, and the '81 XS850. I was gonna offer you a spare but what I have for the 550s won't work.

    I'll bet chacal has them.

    rhys,

This bike only has one, left, caliper. I'm new to the XJ world and wasn't 100% sure how these bikes could be configured.

bigfitz52, I go by the moniker "frankenbike" because that's what this XJ is! The bike came with (XJ?)750 forks & a left 750 caliper. I also have the stock forks, and would put the 650 caliper on them & switch out to the stock arrangement.

The 650 caliper/piston design looks to be a better design than the XJ750 type. My 750 caliper piston is rusted & parts for it are very $. Rebuild goodies for the 650 caliper seems more reasonably priced.

[The current caliper piston is the type without the groove cut in it for the piston seal. This piston is sealed by two square "O" rings located in the caliper body; it is ~38.1mm wide by 36.3 mm tall].
