When I have private messages, it always shows 0 new messages in my user info box. Wasn't sure if you were aware of this or not. Does anyone else have the same thing?
How do I use the smileys?

    Re: Private Messages

My PMs work fine (I'm thinking about it, snick! I'll get back to you!), but I'll be darned if I can figure out these smilies. As one who leans heavily on them, I sure would appreciate some help there!

    Re: Private Messages

When you click on the smiley, the code for it appears in the upper left hand corner of your screen, just above the XJ Bikes logo. :p If you want to use a smiley, you can just type in that code...

That is, until Sno Sherrif fixes them so they work how they should.

    Re: Private Messages

Smilies don't seem to work from the main post window, however if you click the more smilies link at the bottom it will bring up a seperate window of smilies which work when you click on them.

Another "need to look at" item for snosherrif.

Also notice in the options area of the post window that HTML is OFF even though my preferences are det to have this on. Maybe there is a link between the two somehow.

    Re: Private Messages and smileys

For me the 'User Info' box shows New: 0 if there are no new messages which you have not read. But if you go to your Inbox you will see there are old messages. The 'New' does change to 1 if I have a new message waiting for me to read...

When I click 'post reply' button to a topic like this one, I can click on the Emotions and the code gets inserted into the text I'm typing :D

I'm using Firefox and I have also tested with Internet Explorer. So, I'm not sure what browser setting doesn't allow them in your situations. Maybe popups or something :?:

Good call, sir! I turned off Google popup blocker and that fixed it for me.

    Thanks!

I'm glad it worked . I believe there is a setting to allow for popups for specified sites. This way you don't have to turn it off but you'll just need allow them for listed sites...

In my Firefox browser settings (Tools->Options), I have "Block Popup Windows" checked but I do have XJBikes.com as "allowed sites". I also have "enable javascript" checked.

The private messages here can also be set to show as popup notifications...

The Google Toolbar popup blocker is on a per site basis, so I'm good.

:? :? This is strange. I have no popup blocker on my work comp. When I opened this reply window I clicked twice on the confused smile and it worked. Now, after typing I can't get them to work.

    win 2000 SP3
    IE6.0.28 SP1
    Zonealarm 6.1 No blocker there.
    AVG virus software. nothing there.

Have IE set to show all script errors but get none.

No google or yahoo toolbars at all.

    Any more ideas??

Ok, was just about to post this and scrolled up to chack my spelling, as you do. Very strange stuff on the top of the page. Every smiley I clicked on while trying to get them to work has ended up in the top of the page.

Bloody gremlins have taken over for sure.

Thats the same thing that happens to me.

Also, my user info does not show that I have a new message until I open my inbox and actually click on the new message. Once I click the new message, a 1 pops up in the user info box.

I have allowed this site in my pop-up blocker and still nothing.
