Did I mention that I got bit by a mosquito last night. First sign of spring in Florida. Think they were gone for about a week.

By the way time, I think it 67.235% that are made up on the spot...

I've been working on my XJ550, and 750 Secas, and a GS550 in my garage. I have a forced air kerosene heater. It gets the place warm enough, but a heavy dew forms on the metal parts and engines. On the coldest days a frost will form on the engines! It's spoiling the polish job I did on the aluminum cases. I decided since, to clear coat the aluminum after polishing, hard enough to polish them once. I got 3 bikes running fair, but fine tuning will have to wait for clear roads. Even starting them is out until we get above freezing.

They predicted the temps would start to turn around and rebound into the single digits but I still woke up to -23 degrees F this morning.
I don't dare sit on my bike and make "vroom vroom" noises. My wife would probably find me hours later, frozen to death in the saddle, with a smile on my face.
By the way, I got a second opinion on the dog and it turns out the first vet got it wrong. Not a torn ACL. Just needs some rest and some time and he should be back in action.

This happens to me too, I keep a clean bath towel in the garage and just dab them off once the frost melts. If you used Mother's or the like as your final finish when you polished them, it shouldn't ruin anything; it contains a wax. Mine have "sweated" and been toweled off a few times with no detriment to the polished cases. The Norton was sprayed down with WD40 so that one's not even an issue.

    Alkasmeltzer- - - :p 8)

I still have to run the beater Sea-Doo with fresh gas, and a 4 horse kicker

As for hurricanes impacting Clermont, I'm 70 miles from either coast.

Thats ok timetoride . i see it this way

In the summer I ride my bike, boat , in the winter my car or my snowmobile.

You you have a summer most the year and will have to replace your tires more often than we in the northern states. LOL

Still in the garage. It will be nice for a couple of days and after that will be cold again. Not worth to put the battery and the seat back. Gas tank is full with stabilizer and the bike is oiled up from front to back. Let her hibernate another month or two. :)

It got to 53* here today, I was going to take the project bike for a ride BUT... The fuseholder for the "IGN" fuse mysteriously fell to bits. (I haven't retrofitted the fusebox yet, it was on the to-do list.) Did the Radio Shack repair, now if it gets warm again tomorrow...

I wish. My freeway capable bike is winterized; the project bike still has the 7-year old weather-checked Cheng-Sh**s that came on it. Resto-fication still on schedule, but the Avons aren't happening for a week or two yet. No way am I running I-94 on the tires that are on it now. I might have to play hookey or skate early so I can get some miles down tho...

I pulled my bike out of the garage today, put some polish on it to protect it from the salt and went for a 30 mile ride. Temp around 40 degrees F. I actually saw three other bikes on the road :)

Great job on the forks, Carl! I do have a brake warning light on though, but the brakes work fine, plenty of fluid in the MC. I did some emergency braking exercises and all is normal.

Yep me too! Got the fusebox fixed late last night, and it was sunny and a tropical 38* F here. Got 22 miles in; love the new speedo; still amazing how much torquier the 550 is after a valve adjustment; carbs still need sorted bigtime for low speed stuff. BOY WAS THAT NICE!!! It's been a long winter. I'll post a pic as soon as we find the !^#$%&^ USB cable.

I did 40 miles today. Lots of other bikes on the road.

Went on a major artery for the first time. 63 mph top speed. Did a few lane changes.

4000 rpm is about 51 mph. 5000 rpm is about 62 mph.

I can see why some bikers go for a full frame-mounted faring.

Went out today just to get the blood flowing and the wind blowing in my face. I think it was about 40 here and I just had to take her out for a quick ride. It felt so great out there that I was about to get teary eyed :D

Found the USB cable. Like I said, at only 38F today it was still a bit nippy but the sun was shining and it sure did feel good to be back on two wheels!

Fitz, them is some seriously teeny weenie cylinders.
Seriously, though, that is one gorgeous looking bike.
Watch out for the slipper spots. It looks very wet all around there.

I got yer teenie-weenie cylinders right here, pal! {just kidding} Thanks, wait until it's finished.

It hit 61 F yesterday, I skated out early and got in some more miles. It sure was nice to be able to ride in "normal" gear rather than feeling like the Michelin Man.

I rode Sat and Sun. Mostly I want to make sure the carb bowls are flushed at least once a week.

Seriously, Fitz, your restos are beautiful to behold.

I have started looking at FJ1200s and reading reviews of folks that have taken long trips on them 1 up and 2 up. If one comes up local I want to take it for a test spin.

We are having a nice week - 40s to 50s in the morning and upper 60s to low 70s as a high. Rode to work every day so far - looks good for the rest of the week.

Real stress reducer getting to ride home. My office is right in front of the bike lot so I can see everyone as they come in 5 out there today on real nice days there are as many as 8 to 10.

Saw 1 guy looked my bike all around this morning. I rode all last summer so I'm surprised he has not seen it before.

It was 70 today in Maryland. Kind of windy though. No problems, the way to offset that is to hit the twisty farm roads where hills and trees block the wind. :)

My convalescent leave is running out so I better party while I can!

NH seems to have moved out of the Artic air we were in. Mid 30's most days now, but still see snow/rain/ice in the forecasts :-(

Unfortunately, I don't have a real garage to do any work on my bike, and our basement is finished, so I can't even work on parts there.

32ºF today, mostly sunny. With no snow on the ground I had to go riding. That would make it -3ºF with the wind chill. I wore my WalMart ski pants. I was mostly warm enough, but after an hour of riding my fingers and toes are in pain. It started to snow shower as I got close to home, but no problem. 8)
I think from here on I can stop using Sta-Bil in the tank.

100 miles over the weekend. It was cool to cold but it was also dry and the roads were safe to ride.

Rode to work today. Below freezing this morning. The bike started right up and idles perfectly. This afternoon is supposed to be 40 deg F. Its chilly but its not uncomfortable if you dress properly.

My commute is only 5 miles each way.

It's in the 20's here in the morning, and it gets into the high 30's-40's during the day. The problem is the 20-30+ mph wind that's whipping all over the place. There's garbage cans blowing around in the streets, residual salt and gravel that make for treacherous patches all over the road. It just plain sucks.

I can ride in the cold or the wind but not both.
