I have not yet pulled the plugs over the pilot screws and am wondering after removal, do you leave them off? Or re-install them when your done with adjustments? I will be removing by drilling in a little way and then using a sheet rock screw with a blunt tip to screw in and slowly wiggle out. Does this sound right? Can you tell me if the stock setting is on the lean or rich side? I will be tuning by ear. I did a carb pull and clean and bench sync last year. The bike runs awesome and i like to tinker. So i thought i would mess with the pilot mixture screws and see what happens.

Uh, if the bike runs well I wouldn't mess with it. Buy a "project" bike to tinker with.

But yes, you have the procedure down right to remove the anti-tamper plugs, and no, you don't put them back. Their only purpose was to prevent owners from making adjustments.

If it runs awsome I would not mess with them unless you have the tools to do it properly.Tuning by ear is not the recomended way to go.That being said...before you tune anything gently screw each one in and count the turns it takes to seat each one.Write it down! This way you can always go back to where you started out.Best of luck.

If, not yet pulled the plugs over the pilot screws. Leave them alone, since your bike runs awesome. But if you do remove them, don't put them back.
You can all ways put plastic plugs in the holes, to keep any dirt out. They can be removed easily the next time.
