    The place that's selling the pristine '81 with 4700 miles on it is touting "original tires." And they are supposedly a motorcycle shop.

    I don't know about you, but I wouldn't ride it 5 miles on 28 year old tires, no matter how much tread they have left.

    Nice bikes, I don't know if they're gonna get $2400 tho...

    thats true, that also means its been sitting for god only knows years...one of those "it looks like a great buy but...."

    Precisely. A "pristine" bike like that is going to take just as much work to put back to fully operational as a grungy one, if not more. The same stuff would need attending to, there just wouldn't be as much cleaning required.

    It's taking me a lot more to put my 7000 mile "stored" bike back on the road than it did the one that had 18K on it and was being ridden.
