Short video of my XS400 Maxim with LED turn signals and LED's in the cluster. Electronic Flasher, with relay added for self cancel.

The video doesn't show off the speedo/tach lights so well because of the bright neutral light, so i added still pics of it to show the true brightness. (Youtube makes it look even darker grrr)

    LED's from www.superbrightleds.com

Used WLEDx5 for the dash (Used correct colour for the Oil, Highbeam and Neutral. Cool White for Gauges.

1156-A30-RA for all 4 Signal lights, Clearance was fine

krs14, like you I switched over to LED's back in the fall. Like you I tried the wled5's in the neutral/high beam and turn signal indicators but found at nightime they were WAY TO BRIGHT probably dangerous.
I pulled them out and switched over to their single led's but have found them to be to dim so I'll have to find something in between.
What tail lights did you end up using?

Are the LED's a direct plug in or did you guys have to mod the sockets?

Yep direct plug in, i didn't change the tail lights yet, at 30 bux a pop i wasn't in the mood to spend that much for 2 bulbs hhahah maybe in the summer i'll switch them over.

If i find them too bright i'll prolly just use some tape on the inside to deaden them down a touch. Thanx for the heads up!

KrS14, for the tail lights I went with the 24 led 1157 units. At night they are as bright if not brighter than the std 1157 bulbs but the jury is still out on daylight brightness. I'll most likely switch over to the 3 or 5 watt bulbs they have when I have the spare Washingtons

as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
    that sounds like the ticket...

can you provide detailed directions and or a schematic?

i cant do some of this stuff just by seeing some pics and most descriptions as related on the forums...

too bad too because im not really that dumb...

someone had a post about how they swapped out some resistors for a diode (i think) and while ive got soldering skills and can pretty much comprehend what i read, i wasnt certain i understood every step...

    I just followed http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14068.html
    Only needed part 1 obviously.

Doesn't get more simple than that.

One thing i did do differently, i had an old sealed bulb headlight kickin around. So i took the bulb, wrapped it in a cloth, smashed the bulb, and cleaned out the aftermath. It left me with a nice 3 prong socket that i could use to plug straight into the wire harnes for the flasher relay. So i soldered all my wires from the electronic flasher/relay unit to that socket for easy plug in.

Well as easy as it is to get to my flasher on my bike, had to take off one side of the engine hanger and remove the metal clamp that holds all that stuff off the engine.

But i think it worked out pretty well, all taped up it should be water tight.
