It may have been done before but I thought it might be interesting to see how old (or young) we all are. I'm betting that the majority of us are aged between 40 and 50 but I'm open to correction. Slightly older fella's who have older children, and a bit more spare cash and time......?

TriHard, I am willing to bet you are correct. (slightly older kids, a bit more cash in our pockets but not to the point where we can shed ourselves of the goofy vans we need to schlep our kids around)

Geez, now you know my story :( :)

Aren't we doing this right now in a thread called "old stuff?" Or are we collectively so senile we didn't notice?

Over 50, yes; wads-o-cash, no-- single parent with kids; lifelong rider revitalized after a two-year layoff due to extreme financial circumstances. (I did manage to hang onto my Norton.) Not having at least 3 bikes was an aberration, now things are closer to back to "normal."

I COULD HAVE bought a much newer (or even brand new) bike but I don't LIKE any of them anywhere near as much as I love my XJ's. They just don't sell "standard" bikes in the States anymore. These were the last "real" motorcycles sold here, before things got all swoopy and uncomfortable. For me, they're the best of both worlds: Modern engineering without too much in the way of geegaw gadgetry; modern reliability with old school looks and quality. A MOTORcycle, with two wheels, a motor, a seat and a gas tank.

Kinda funny. I fit in the older category, but have a 6 year old (only one). My commute was killing me gas wise and the bike has actually saved me money between better milage, me repairing versus someone else in the cage and wear and tear value on the cage.

And Fitz, I think were young enough to notice, but old enough to not care.

WOW...I'm in the majority for once!
    not surprising though.

I don't like anything new, but I'm intrigued with the spider.

Wrenching and restoring is good mental therapy for me. Unfortunately the wife doesn't have the same passion for the machine....that's why she doesn't have a key to the shop :)

well i am 30 creaping up here pretty quick on 31. this is my second XJ .... its taken me a long time to get another bike... some of it is me some of it my wife... every time i would get on any of my friends bikes (f2, f3, 900rr, 929 erion) i would be almost instantly doing things that made people wonder how i had reached this age. i always regretted selling my last maxim since it had the power i loved and the forward weight and lower center of gravity to keep me in check. you have to love a bike that runs with the best of them is comfortable and feels safer than some of the other wheelie machines.

Anyways i think you guys get what i'm trying to convey hahah

OH ya, not married, but have been with my love for 6 years, no kids, so i have a bit more flexability in my cashflow :)

    Like a case of beer, I'm 24

My Seca is TECHNICALLY my second bike if you count the 125 I rode around on while living in Asia (technically mine, but it was more of a loan) but really, its my first. I needed a bike, it was rather inexpensive, we work well together.

    Hi ktcubed.

I don't know about Canada, in eastern Australia they are called "cases" but in good ol' west Australia they are "cartons" or "slabs'.

We throw prawns on the barbie, and beer down our throats. More common though is just a simple mix of sausages, steaks and chops......

I suppose it shouldn't surprise me that I am only on of three in the 0-19. My generation doesn't appreciate a true classic and they are not willing to put in any wrench time. They would rather go wreck daddys crotch rocket. It's really very sad.

Well I work in a bar, so the term "case" gets used a lot. Especially when I'm yelling at the bus boy over the music. "Case Canadian" or "Case Coors" works really easy and is easy to understand. But, here in the great white north we refer to cases as two-fours.

We even have an entire weekend dedicated to it. Its called May Two-Four, better known in the rest of the commonwealth as Victoria Day, which here is a nice 3 day weekend in which everyone calls in sick Friday to get an early start.

Copious amounts of the sacred beer are consumed on this weekend. There is also another tradition where on your 24th birthday you must consume 24 bottles of beer from midnight to midnight on the day. Its known as the two-four for your two-four.

Just to clear it all up :p

The first time he called it a 2-4 I was confused. It does make sense. He's still blown away by the fact he can pick up his 2-4 of Moosehead at Wal-Mart.

Oh I hijacked the thread... sorry

I'm 24, married with 2 boys. 2.5 and 6 months. Money is tight but since our second car bit the dust and we are not replacing I have been able to use the excuse of needing the bike to commute to convince the "financial controller" of the family to let me spend a little more of it.

I just about bought an '01 VFR a few weeks ago but couldn't pull the trigger. I didn't like the idea of having to get rid of my XJ. I do wish I had some more power though. I hope one of these days I can manage to have at least 2 bikes.

Come on down. What's a few more Canadians?

At one point this summer we had four cars in the driveway, all with different canadian plates, at the same time. Alberta, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
All his friends and family love it here. They all drive because of the stupid passport requirment to fly.
