This could work.... But usually anyone that uses craigslist is trying to make money, so they wouldn;t be some nice elderly couple with a Vellocette venom or someting collecting dust, and say " Frank! get that darn bike out of the barn and give it to that kid, you havent ridden it in 20 years!"

Might happen. But you violated one of the cardinal rules of living a long healthy and safe life. DON'T EVER POST YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN A PUBLIC AREA!!!!! (Sorry about the screaming but needed emphasis). Use pm or a bilind response method like Craigslist uses. Posting your phone number puts you and your family in grave danger of some wacko doing a reverse nimber lookup and paying a visit or who knows what else. This forum feels safe because of the relationships we build with each other at a distance but even here it's not safe to post your phone number or a way to directly identify you by name, we know the city where you live and there you go. We don't use pseudonyms instead of names to identify ourselves just to be clever. It keeps us safely anonymous from the wackos. Even sharing your name/phone number to a forum member by pm carries some risk. Look at how many visitors are on this site at any time.

I got the Maxim that is in the best shape for free similar to this method.
I had bought the Midnight for a couple hundred off the 'List and posted an ad a week later looking for a parts bike. Some old lady gave me the one I ride now, and the Midnight is my parts bike.
