Hi from the bottom of the world! New Zealand! I have just scored an old XJ750 police bike. Yamaha supplied, ie it has an extra gismo on top of the gauges. Something to do with speed no doubt and it has a controller on the RH grip built in under the kill switch. This bike does not go and I am unsure of the year and struggling to find the chassis no at the mo? Is it normally on the headstock? Looks like it has been removed. The engine no is 24L-000420? Anyhow, I have already found a link to a manual thanks to this site, so look forward to browsing more thoroughly! Cheers Al.

    Welcome Laava !!
We've got a few here with Police bikes, and I'm sure we can get the year from the 24L. I think the gismo is a calibrated speed recorder, it holds the speed the bike was going. Post up the numbers from the headstock, stamped in the metal, also look for a sticker behind the side covers(maybe).

According to some VIN tables I kept from a post long long ago, it's a 1983 XJ750P - Police Special.

Thanks all. Found the frame no stamped very lightly. 24L-000192
Almost looks like it has had extensive sand blasting at some point! Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks Al
