Hi guys, the stand(ing) handle on the LHS of my 1981 XJ650 is missing. That's okay at the moment for I'm refurbishing the bike, but I need either to purchase a second hand one, or if someone could help me with the measurements and I'll get one made (option1 is obviously easier). If anyone could help, it would be appreciated. Thanks, Stephen.

    Hi all,
Still no luck, so if anyone can help with dimensions of their standing handle, I would be grateful. Thanks, Stephen.

Hi guys, the standing handle is the handle on the left hand side of the frame and is used to help lift up the bike onto the centre stand. It appears TimeToRide has a handle he can sell me, so thanks for all your replies and assistance. Regards, Stephen.

Bikes that didn't have a full-length rear grab bar (primarily Seca models) used standing handles to help assist a person "stand up" and lift a "Help, I've fallen, and I can't get up" bike.......and also to put the bike onto the centerstand.

Models with full length grab bars didn't use the standing handles, as the grab bar was also "the standing handle".

Oddly, some Seca models used these standing handles on both sides of the bike---which seems pretty logical----while other models used a standing handle only on the left side of the bike..........

StephenT, who is "down under", has an XJ650, but since the "rest-of-the-world" XJ650 models were really what we call in North America an XJ650RJ Seca model, then his bike does have (or needs!) standing handles.......

    Stephen- - your regular e-mail didn't work
Now, does anyone know if the 1982 Turbo left handle is close or the same as what Steve needs?

    Hi all,
I've attached a photo of the Standing Handle, this photo from a XJ650(UK). As Chacal states this handle is not standard to all XJ650s. Basically the length from top of shock absorber to 7mm bolt hole in frame is 150mm, or just over 6". Does that help, TimeToRide? Thanks, Stephen.

Not only accurate info, but Chacal responded in five minutes !!
My Turbo handle measures about 230 MM , way too long to "adjust".
    And it wasn't chrome.
Now if you want to make one,
Use coat hanger wire to rough out the shape,
Get the "chainstay" from a push bike,
Fill the tube with sand, bend to match the coat hanger,
(dump the sand at some point)
Fit smaller tube in the ends, hammer flat, drill holes.

    Thread necromancer...sorry.

I'm needing the same part for a just-purchased 650 Seca project, and would prefer not to home-fab. Anyone out there with a spare from a parts/donor bike?
