    Hey y'all.

    I don't have an owner's manual for my1981 XJ650LH Midnight Maxim.

I need to know what the actual fuel tank capacity is and how much of that is reserve

I bought a new 1981 650 Maxim in August of 1980 and seem to remember the total capacity as 3.4 gallons. But I can't remember how much of that is reserve.

Anyone got an accurate answer or know where I can go on the web for accurate specs? I've researched a lot of sites, but the specs vary quite a bit so are unreliable.

I'd like to aquire an owner's manual for my Midnight (or a regular 1981 650xj Maxim). Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Rusty

    Thanks!

Some great info there. I figured the reserve amount would be there if anywhere.

I see the tank is indeed 3.4 gallons. But I still don't see the amount of reserve for the tank listed anywhere in the manual.

    Still looking.
    Thanks again.

    Thanks.

For some reason, I was thinking reserve on this bike should have been like .4 gallons, which does seem low now that you guys have responded with the .8 gal value.

I know that I get about 44 mpg just cruising easily around 60 m.p.h. and about 39 mpg on the interstate running around 75-77 m.p.h. I have a medium sized windshield on it.

Of course, those figures are based on my bike's odo which is probably not dead-on accurate. My other metric bikes have usually been off about 4% to the generous side.

    I appreciate your responses.
