i have an 82 maxim 750 and looking to sell. it has an extra tail light, extra what could be considered nos seat, it has no rips or holes but the one on it does. also it has a fully adjustable backrest/luggage rack. the rack can be used by the passenger or slide forward for the driver. currently i am not willing to part it out right now. the bike is currently registered and has a ny inspection. it starts up and runs, rides and shifts fine. it has been on a battery maintainer.

oh sorry.. as it is was hoping for 1200 but will take 1000.
i have been told to remove the extras from it and sell the bike for less then sell the other stuff separate. but would rather not.

If you did decide to part it out I'd give you $175 for the luggage rack/backrest, there's a few people around here I've seen looking for them, I'll bet they might bid against me...

We're probably going to see a lot of these high asking prices in this economy. One XJ equal 1 house payment(rent payment). Probably wishful thinking. Sad really.

You're not asking too much. I'm thinking of selling mine and people tell me to say 1,200-BO and let them talk me down to 900-1,000.

I wasn't saying that you're asking too much. Your price is very much in line. My comment was directed toward the guys on ebay/Craigslist who are way high on their prices. Trying to hang on another month. I just picked the wrong thread to voice the observation I've made over the last couple months. A man ought not have to sell his ride to keep his house.

ya i hear ya on that. i figure that for a bike that you can hop on and ride from day one is worth at least a grand. not to say it couldnt use work to make it better but still can ride without any issues. and to have a beautiful extra seat and with the backrest should be worth more. but with the way things are with ecom a grand should be a good price

so any interest in selling just the luggage/backrest? that is neat how it slides forward.. let me know if that's gone or what u've decided. For those experts out there, anyone know if this would fit on an 81 650 maxim?

    do i hear......ROAD TRIP

i'm still working on selling it whole. i'm actually almost scared to put it on craigslist. i'm still taking pics of it with the kids and such before it goes. my 9yr old twin girls. keep telling me not to sell it. then cry when i say i must. they love riding, it's so cute. but i believe i may have to take the extras off and drop the price. i will keep ya posted.

DONT tempt me  And if u put in on craigslist i bet u will have it sold within a few days. I would put it on there for 1400 and then have someone work u down 1000 for the bike or 1200 for the bike and extras 8) if ur not in a hurry to sell it might as well go highier and see if someone bites

Silly question, but why are you selling it?

You aren't asking too much. The price you are asking is fine - unless you are in a hurry, I think you should hold out for the $1200 a while, at least until the end of May. You should offer it at that price without the seat and the backrest/rack and either sell those pieces here or offer them to the buyer of the bike. Those are worth good cash. You already have an offer for the backrest/sissybar/rack of $175. The seat should be sellable for about $75, given the condition you represent it to be. So whatever the price you get for the bike, you can add another $250 to what you get by separating them.
