I know this has been asked a million times. I have a 82 750 Seca, The mufflers are shot but the collector is in good shape. I know i cant buy new replacements and I dont want to buy used becasue who knows what the inside look like. Well I seen where peopel use harley slip ons. I want to put something on that looks good and not to loud. But I dont want it to look like a back yard mechanic slapped it togeather. Something that looks like it came that way. Not to ofend any one who has posted pics, II will even consider removing center stand.

Second, can you remove our brackets from original mufflers and have them welded on replacements?

Take a look at, JC Whitney or MikesXs.com, they both have inexpensive replacement slip on mufflers. With universal mounting brackets.

And Yes you could remove the old brackets and weld them on the new muffler, but you would have to grind down through the crome to get a good weld, and you'd want a good welder to do it, there isn't much metal in them.

Just be careful of those cheap mufflers you'll find at JCW. You'll want to purchase ear plugs at the same time. They are freaking loud. You might as well cut off the old and run straight out of the collector.
I ended up putting a pair of Dunstall style that are made by Jarden I think. I really like them. They are long though, some may not like that style.

here's one place that carries them. These are the EMGOs; I believe either MAC or Jardine also make a "Dunstall-style." http://www.cyclepages.com/ProductDetail ... ID=4033319

I KNOW they come in two different lengths too but I haven't found anyone listing them both.

ALL of them have a "universal" bracket that will probably work fine, it allows quite a bit of latitude, location-wise.

    Fitz,
I belive they are the ones I got. I really like them. Nice sound, won't leave you deaf and the neighbors appreciate them. I wan't about to maintain the upsweep of the pipe so they run straight back. I like them alot.
I'll try to find a pick and post,

Got a set of mufflers from a friend off a 95 sportster. If the mount bracket was 1 more inch up the muffler I wouldnt have to rig up a attachment support. Just waiting on my new gaskets and we wil see. They do point out a bit more then I like but for free how can I complain.

Any opinion on these OEM Sportster mufflers? Says they're for 97-2003. I'm not too picky assuming I can rig up a hanger to fit the original position...

Sears? WTF? ANYWAY! I have to jump in and ask on this thread because I find myself in the same boat (or on the same bike is more appropriate) in that as I am collecting parts and working on my bike (and all of it's glorious pieces all over the garage!) my exhaust is also shot. I even bought a second used set to take the best of both sets but they're pretty much both junk. I have run across on Craigslist and Ebay brand new Mac 4 - 2 exhaust. I always loved the factory sound of these bikes, does the Mac sound drastically different? Would this system be too loud? I don't know what else to do.
