In needs on 1982 xj 750 maxim speedo and cable

    The speedo cable broke off,well it made a noise as i drive and the needle would spend around and round then it just broke...Help please

    the needle broke? or the cable broke? sometimes these just come loose on the back and the cable doesn't slide into the speedo far enough. sometimes they break down at the front wheel. I would look farther into it before buying parts.

    Take the cable off and inspect it. if that's all good, put it back on the tach and chuck the other end of the cable in a cordless drill. As you spin the drill with the cable, you should see the speedo move. try it in both directions, as i'm not sure which direction it has t spin to move the speedo, though i would imagine you want the cable to turn in the same direction as the needle on the speedo moves.

    it's broken off the back of the speedo the plastic and all/ Nope hope for it..

    Sounds like a great time to change out to an aftermarket instrument set. You could get rid of those peske electronics at the same time.

    I have the speedo/tach cluster from a 650 if that would work, I have no idea.

    But if i switch to a aftermarket speedo will i still have my gas gauge oil light and battery light?? Love to know were my gas is and oil light...but if not maybe a 650 speedo would work but would never have a clue on how to hook it up...And how much for the speedo...shipping coast to 54481

    i think the speedo from the 650 will drop right into your cluster. i would look into getting that from QuarterHorse.
