So just to get everyone up to speed, I tipped my bike over a few months ago and then let it sit over winter. I tried to get it started now that the weather is getting nice and oil started leaking out the airbox and it wouldn't fire up. I took the air filter out, rinsed it and let it dry out. Then I changed the oil because I think it smelled a little like gas. Now I go to start it and there is no more leak but it still is not firing up! I plan to check the spark plugs if I can figure out what tool I need to get them out (would this cause my bike to not start?) I also might buy a new air filter to make sure that is not the problem (could an old air filter be the problem?) Is there anything you need to do after an oil change to get things running? Should I put my bike on PRIME? Also can someone tell me where I spray the insta-start? I need a picture or a description on where to spray it. Ne advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for all the help.

I always sprayed my insta-start into the airbox, after removing the filter, when I had to use it.

If your plugs are oil or fuel fouled, they might not be sparking. Pull them out one at a time, ground em to the head, and turn the motor over and see if you get spark.

Your old air filter COULD be the issue I suppose, if it's dirty enough the bike will starve for air, but I would think it would at least try to run.

pull each of the plugs..check each for fire... they are probubly at the very least dirty ... get them clean, then try to fire the bike up again ... if no fire - then pull the plugs again and check to see if they are getting wet.

Spray carb cleaner works good to get carbon off the plugs.

is the engine turning?? I would check the plugs, Make sure the petcock is on prime and is actauly flowing and Check ur battery!! i just figured out that if the battery isnt full charged on my bike it will turn the engine have enough power for the lights and such just not enough to give it spark. So check those three things and give it another shot

after you put it in prime you may also want to check the flow of fuel to the carbs by opening the drain screws on the bottom of the bowl one by one.
its usually best to use a 5/16 clear tube and connecting it to the drain hole when doing this so you can direct the drainage to a fuel can or bucket.
