I have been in here for a few days and see alot of posts about 550,650,750...etc but not alot about the 1100 plus i read that K&N does not even make a air filter for my bike.... are the early 80's 1100 maxs uncommon and will this become a problem getting parts?

    thnx

XJ1100's were only offered for one year in the USA (until 1984 in Canada) and are pretty rare..........

The 550, 650, and 750's are by far the most common models, sold in bigger numbers and made for many more years.

We didn't get the XJ1100 in Australia either. Went from XS1100 to FJ1100 with a few years break in between.

Yes, the XJ1100 is a rare one. There are many of us here who have them, just ask questions we'll be glad to help.

I'm in the same boat your in Thee_oddball. I know we can get all the engine parts we need in here. I have found a few places that deal in used parts for the 1100 but they want a arm and a leg for them.

Pods for the XS1100 will fit fine ( K&N ).
DON'T SMOKE THE TCI UNIT they're near impossible to find and expensive!

So when welding or using a battery charger please disconnect it.

I killed mine hooking up jumper cables!

I know the 82 and some very early 83's(i think) xj750 maxim's used a square handle bar and i believe square headlight. Mine is a late 83 model with round bars and round headlight. Same as the midnight maxim. I just don't see many around, thats why i thought i'd ask.

All my 750 maxims and the 2 1100's have the square bars. The 650 and the 83 750 maxims have the round handle bars. I also like the simple gauge set ups on both of those bikes. The electronics on the other ones are kind of a pain at times to keep them working properly.
