If someone is looking for a Seca like this:

    http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/mcy/1103067158.html

Don't want to bias a deal for anyone, but I would caution a closer look may be necessary to make an informed decision.

Before anyone looks at it too hard... I thought it looked ok from the photos. I had the seller send me some more specific close up photos of certain areas I wanted covered. The seller was really gracious and responded promptly.

Man, I really liked that bike, but the close ups I received were what I suspected for a Florida bike, quite a bit more oxidation and rust than I would like for a price posted like that. The closer shots did it no justice so I had to turn it down. Shame.

Don't know if I can get the close ups to post on here.

Seller is polite but pretty firm in his asking price.

I told him since the economy has slipped that prices have dropped.

What kind of price do y'll think it would sell for?

Buffing will take away lots of that oxidation.

I just had a guy in CA write who has an identical twin to this bike (same color, saddlebags, factory fairing) except his is a 1983 Canadian model (KPH gauges, bought in it Canada).

Got a question for all the XJ750 Seca experts out there. The stripe package shown on the bike mentioned above.....was that stripe kit available only on(or as part of) the fairing pacakge?

Buffing for the oxidation, eh??? How about the pipe rust and pitting.

Dang it. Now I guess I gotta go give it a second (or third) look.

    Working up my bargaining face.

Personally I would buy that bike. Cleaning is cheap just requires alot of work. My only concern would be the rust on the exhaust header bolts but I believe they could be dremeled off...

I think his price is fair. I would go no lower than $1800 given the condition and the luggage, but $2000 is a fair price. If he gets no bites at $2k he might entertain slightly lower offers.

Sorry man, I think it's a good bike. I'd offer him $1750 cash and see what happens.
