I have a 1994 XJ600S with a vacuum style fuel pump....I was wondering two things actually...wondering how to test the pump to see if it is working properly and also if it is possible to mount and hook up an electric fuel pump from say a 96+ xj600. If anyone has any info on either of these PLEASE let me know. I am running out of options :p Thanks in advance.

Many lawn mowers and outboards have vacuum operated fuel pumps, and I believe they are very low pressure, electric pumps often put out 6 - 8 pounds. You need to get the right pressure, hope that helps.

You can get one at most auto stores that puts out 2-3 lbs. pressure that will work for around $30. My Honda Shadow has an electric pump that runs 3-4 lbs and you can find them used on Ebay or get an automotive pump that works.
If you run more pressure then that, your carb float needles will not be able to stop the fuel flow and your engine will flood. The pumps run all the time when the switch is on and are made that way. On my Honda, there's also a relay that shuts the pump off if the engine quits running to you don't start a fire when you dump the bike.
