After putting the carbs back on and the battery back in i got the bike to start with one shot of starter fluid, a couple little back fires and some bogging on the throttle (no pods or air box on the bike) i let it warm up and adjusted the choke to compensate for the missing pods/airbox and was going to go down the alley, pull clutch in (felt strange) pop into first gear and bike dies....damm clutch is stuck!!..it wont release...I dont know how this happened in the span of 1 week , but any suggestions on how to un stick the clutch are welcomed...at the same time this happened the dash start acting funny...in neutral the display would die...put it in gear and it would come back on....?. Now the battery was struggling to start the bike...take all the plugs out and it would turn the bike over very well...now after the first stall the back started right back up...I stalled it again and now it wont start and the battery sounds worse than ever...now its turning VERY slow , so i can only assume that the near dead battery is causing weak spark and that is why i cant get it to start anymore (off to buy a new battery)
now as for the dash do you think the neutral switch is shorting out the dash?

    thnx for any help

    S!

p.s 1/3 cylinder are hot 2/4 are luke warm (I touched the exhaust pipes)..

Have you cleaned all of the major ground wires yet? Also if this bike has the stock fuse box you might look there.

I guess we'll see whether the battery helps, but this sounds a bit scary to me. It sounds more like something's jammed in the transmission, thus stalling the bike and seizing the engine such that the starter can't move it.

Besides a new battery, you could also try turning the crank manually with a wrench at the nut under the timing cover (19mm). If the crank can't be turned pretty easily with the plugs out, there's a big project in your future.... hope it's not the case.

I started the bike again but cannot get the the clutch to let go...I can understand it being frozen from sitting for years but i drove it home last week!..it was a real short trip..about 5 mins total, i put it in gear and pulled the clutch and rocked it back and fourth and ti still wont let go, when i pull the clutch i can feel the cable moving but it feels as though it is pulling on something that is not moving at all...anyong know how it could happen in just 1 week?

    thnx

You say you can feel the cable moving, but is the lever on top of the crankcase moving? And is it moving enough? If it is, then the problem's inside.
