ok guys I bought a 3 pc set of pro-grabit's from home depot. got my drain screws out no heat no oil, nothin!

got the bowls soaking in chemdip to clean the drain ports out.

what I've figured out from others on here is my symptoms are saying my floats are leaving my gas levels too low. what lets the fuel IN? the fuel only shuts off once the pin inside the needle is pushed shut right?

which way do I bend the tang to raise/lower the level?

    now to throw a curveball...
when I bench sync'd, I could see a sliver of light in all 4 carbs. after sync/colortune (remember my fuel levels are prob too low) 3 of 4 butterflies seem completely shut... and my idle screws are too far out, at 5 turns out (which I figured is how I compensated for the low fuel levels)

is it really normal to idle a bike with the butterfly so closed you can't see light with the naked eye?

can't wait to see what happens when I check float levels once I get my new drain screws.

I won't have my new drain screws till wednesday.

The float rises and pushes the needle into the seat, it is the needle fitting into it's seat that stops the flow, the pin just gives the needle a bit of play, it doesn't do anything to directly stop the flow.

To raise the fuel level in the bowl you bend it away from the needle.

Thanks for clearing that up ace.

Now, as for the butterflies... how can the motor run with them shut..?
I can only see a bit of light out of #4. The other 3, I can't see through at all.
When I did the sync, I used a thin paperclip. Could definately see light under the butterflies.

You're idle circuit is essentially a little tiny carburetor, set to run rich. When you open the screw you let more of the rich mixture in and I suppose if your floats are low it would not be rich and you could get it to run on just that.

Your sync should get all butterflies open the same amount though. I wonder if you have air leaks (butterfly shaft seals).

    Brand new seals there :)

And all other 'rubbers' in the carbs as well.

I forgot there was a pilot air jet... so really, even though the butterfly is closed, there is STILL air getting in there. I guess it would HAVE to even just to turn over... if it couldn't get air at all, it couldn't SUCK, right...?
