Hey all, anyone give me some advice on getting bike to idle right, I have carb rebuild kit on order, so I will do that when they get here. I know that they need to be sync'd too so that will be done. I also need some info on jetting for my bike, can anyone point me in a good direction. I want to change pipes and I have seen comments about rejetting the carbs, any info would be appreciated....thanks Kbar...

Tuning and jetting tips are available from several sources on the web. I haven't seen a specific 'how to tune and tweak your XJ carbs', but the CV carb tuning section at factorypro.com has worked well for me. Needless to say, the entire intake to exhaust system must be clean, leak-free, and in good working order - this includes valve adjustment, intake boots, air filter, pipe, muffler, enrichment system, and carbs. Make any changes to your intake/exhaust before tuning/jetting - its a process that has to be repeated with each change. Try to avoid a mismatch between intake and exhaust flow - don't run a 4-1 pipe and glass pack or open style muffler with the stock intake, and don't install pod air filters with the stock exhaust.
Lastly, be sure to check your tank, petcock, fuel lines and fuel filter before starting and keep your eyes on the forums for upcoming carb clinics in your area. Hope this helps.

Im in if anyone is doing a carb clinic. I sure do need the experience. Ive learned alot about carbs during my recent cleaning. (still learning as I don't think they are right yet). Wish they made carb rebuild kits for MaximX's.
