I'm a firm believer, right or wrong, that all of the parts on these bikes are there for a reason. May have found an exception. Pulled my carbs Saturday (XJ750J) and all 4 of them have the small curved plate that you are supposed to remove to get to the air jets missing. Any idea what those were intended to do? This bike is a runner and I can't see any reason to replace those things unless someone can tell me why I need them.

    Thanks,

Im pretty sure that people leave these off quite a bit. I dont see a point to them. Someone else will come in with another opinion.

I am a firm believer in taking any extra weight / stuff off my bike that yamaha put on there!

Most people when they buy the bikes, the PO left them out.
So as far as recommendations you will get here - if you don't have them, or missing 1 or 2, take them all out and leave it. Don't buy new ones.
If you have em, leave em. :)
