Howdy, I got my Jardine slip-ons yesterday, Went to put them on.. Of course the opening is wider where it slides over the pipe... compaired to the stock ones.. Then I realize there is a Gasket or something in there to create a seal between the header and the muffler.. What type of gasket is it.. And could something like header wrap or something replace this? Other then that.. They look nice on the bike.. just have to fab up some brackets ( Actual mounting tabs on pipes don't make it to the original location. ) can't wait to hear it. Thanks.

when i put jardines on my 750, the gaskets didn't fit. I had to slip them on metal to metal. if you can fit your gasket in there, it's just a copper based (if i remember correctly) muffler gasket. you should be able to pick one up at any local bike shop, or, you can order from chacal. also, my brackets lined up. i guess the 550 is different.

Yeah, the Left side is close to mounting tab, but no cigar, right side.. totally different. Ordered the slip-ons from PainterD, there great, just have to do a bit of work to make them right. I got a gasket in the left one ( removed the stock one and played around a bit.. Made it work. Just have to mount right side and get a bolt in the left rear for the support.

    Great job there bluepotpie!

Any plans for the gas tank or just staying flat black? How is the blue paint holding up on the engine?

Can you help me find the slip-ons you used? I looked on motorcycleproshop.com but no luck.
