Is there a Clymer or Haynes for the 125 Virago ? I can't seem to find one on Amazon.

    Thanks

I don't think there is any such thing as a 125 Virago but there are some XV 535 manuals on ebay.

    Hi Steve,

I must say I'd never heard of it before today, but I did a Google, and there is indeed a v-twin XV125.

I have one for nothing if I want it, and was thinking of it as a good first project for me. I believe the PO ran it without oil... who gives these guys a motorbike ? Even if I can't get her going again, I'll have a lot of fun taking it apart

Anyway, there's possibly a factory manual - I'll keep looking.

Factory manuals are hands down one of the best investments you can make for any machine. Good idea to start there. Hope your motor isn't ruined.

If the PO ran it without oil it won't be a good first project since the engine bearings will be ruined. You could always stuff a 250 in it I guess.

Fresh bearings and an underturned crank isn't a bad way to go, could get away with everything for under $200.

    Cool, thanks for that Robert.

'Good first project' to me means getting all the way inside there. I've never seen inside a motor before, and you don't get much further inside than engine bearings :D

Then there's electrics, clutch, forks, brakes... all new, and all good.

I've always been overconfident, that's the problem 8)

Definitely gonna get the factory manual.

For what you have in to it, you really have nothing to loose in making the effort except your time (and that is given willingly). Best way to learn is hands on and if you screw this one up, no big loss. Besides, you can always fleabay the leftovers if it does bite the dust.

Yeah I think you're dead right there. Although if I get it going I create value, and that's good too !

I've been real lucky, cos it's for nothing, and I got the XJ for nothing too - I must be living right !

I must say, the forum is really superb for a new head like me. It's education in a true sense. Maybe some of what I've learned from handling the XJ re carbs and brakes will cross over.

You guys who give so much time and patience, I have a lot of respect for that. I for one, really do appreciate it. Thanks.

    Will I ever be XJ Wizard ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
