I thought I had fixed my electrical problems, but I guess they were just temporarily dormant.

My bike's flashers don't work again. Here is the original thread:
    http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=17790.html

I changed my fuse box to 4 inline fuse holders, and I thought the problem was fixed. today however the problems came back worse than ever.

    - When I put on the left turn signal the tach drops to 0 when the bulb is on, and rises back to normal after the bulb turns off.

    - This progresses for about 5 seconds, then the signal fuse pops.

    - The Right signal works fine.

    - If the seat is off; and a good fuse is in the fuse box, and I turn on the left signal, I can feel the wires leading to the flasher fuse heat up until the fuse pops.

    - If I remove the front bulb, everything including the the rear bulb works normally, and the fuse never pops.

    - If I remove the rear bulb, the problems continue as listed above.

    - Assume it's gotta be a short somewhere. Any idea where to start looking? any idea how to go about looking for a short?

You will need to start somewhere, headlight bucket is as good as anywhere else since all of the mentioned systems happen to pass through it. Good luck!

    I tried..... and gave up.

I dropped it off at the mechanic. He is going to put in an Acewell gauge while he is at it.

Wish you were nearby, I'd whip that out in short order! What did you do with the fish finder? Don't let the Mech hack your harness, if you ever need to go back it will make life much easier. Insist on the return of all unused parts and the old gauges (I'm looking for parts/basket cases to play with).

I know this is too late but you narrowed it down already to the front left turn signal.
Sounds like it is shorting there by drawing to much current, blowing the fuse.
So if the short is in the gauge package you're fine but, if it's else were you will still have the issue.

Had a similer issue with my jeep. It was the gauge cluster.
