It's one thing after another with this bike.

When the bike is in gear (not running) and the clutch is pulled in it should roll as if in neutral right?

Mine takes considerable effort to push while in gear and clutch pulled in.

It's not either brake sticking. I've adjusted the clutch cable as far as it will go and also turned the clutch arm a few notches in an attempt to get more "pull" to no avail.

    Suggestions?

There is always some drag, I would be worried if, in gear, clutch lever pulled & it wouldn't move at all.

The same sort of happens with mine, 1982 XJ650 RJ. On my old bikes i could idle the bike in gear and stop the rear wheel from moving. On my bike she tends to have a bit of drag, yet when pulling the clutch in when i come to a stop at an intersection, the revs are not affected.

unless it is very bad, and the bike stalls when coming to stops, perhaps accept it as a foible of an old bike?

    cheers

My buddies old seca had the same issue. He spent a couple hundred trying to fix it and gave up. I expect some drag when I get my bike on the road. Soon hopefully

On 2 wheels... just lost my hat.
mine does the same thing, but grabs enough that when I pull the clutch in at 30 or so, that the RPMs will not drop until I start to decelerate.
I am going to replace my clutch cable soon and change the oil to see if it that will clear up some of the sticking.

Well I suppose I jumped the gun a little bit, I haven't ran it with this problem to see what it does.

Thanks for the info guys, I could have sworn it rolled like neutral before, but I'm a little bit more at ease about it now.

I found the same problem at
    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=11113/
Once I get it running I'll see if this problem persists and decide to clean out or rebuild the clutch from there.
