    Hi guys,

I'm looking for some graphics to decorate my new paint. I'm planning to put XJ750i or SECA 750i on the side panels, color and style of that will depend on what I end up putting on the tank.

What do you think of this (mockup):

I rather like it. And, yes, they're available symmetrically for the two sides of the tank. Other colors, plus shadows, etc, are also available, but I kind of like the retro-ish effect of the plain white.

    Other thoughts?

    Cheers,
    Paul

Because of the lines of the bike, I would think it would look better to have a graphic that brings the side panel together with the tank. I would think you would get the most bang from something that 'swoops' with the body lines.

If you don't like that idea, then I would go with a smaller Yamaha logo on the tank that does not take away from the great paint job. Minimialist if you will.

    Just my thoughts...

I would tend to agree. Small tuning fork logo on the tank like the new FJRs have; or how about look into which factory graphics packages might be available for the 750's? There were some that didn't come to the States that I've seen available but I don't remember where.

Personally, I'd leave it alone the way it is. I think it looks great and I wouldn't want to mess with success!!

Your going to get all kinds of opinions on that idea. For me, I always liked flames on bikes (just me - old skool) and I think it sets off the tank nice. It's simple but looks out of the box. Anything to dress up a Seca is always a plus.

I'd leave it bare. too nice of paint for a rediculous graphic.

NO!!! DON'T argue with me. The flames stay! There's just too much red there. Leave it be. LOL
See, you'll get all kinds of opinions. Do what you like and don't go by what others like. It's your bike.

    Hi Joe,

actually, the previous aftermarket paint job I just got rid of did that: lines running along the tank and down onto the side panels. I kind of want to move away from that and back towards insignia along the lines of stock (tank badges and side panel badges) but not the original badging.

A friend of mine who's good with photo shop mocked up a couple of these for me (one with a shadow, one with a larger graphic in brushed stainless, etc); this is the one I like the most so far.

I think I'm going to order a few decals, since they're not too expensive, so I can see what they would look like in place, and then order the side panel stuff once I've decided on the tank badging. I may go minimalist when I see it in person, but I think I'm more likely to go with something like this.

    Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Oddball, I don't think airbrushing is for me. It's too hard to see what it would look like before it's done and too hard to undo. If I were going to do that I think I would have done it as part of the paint job so it would be under the clearcoat. Thanks, though.

    Cheer,
    Paul

Hope you dont mind me asking what did it cost for the paint job, I've been looking around for a good but not to expensive paint job. Candy apple red.

This one cost me $850 paint and labor. I pulled the parts and put them back on. The painter did all the stripping, sanding, repair of dents and scratches, etc, in addition to basecoat and clearcoat.
