hey all I just got my bike running 2 weeks ago and I am excited to be riding again. It has been about 20 years since the last time I rode a street bike.
I did some horse trading with a guy I work with ended up with a 92 yamaha seca II xj600.
The bike had been ridden 10 years ago and he parked it in the barn, got off and walked away. No he did not drain any fluids (fuel included) or cover it.
the bad news was the funky smell in the gas tank and the 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of dark green jello in the carb bowls and the front tire was cracked/weather checked all the way around.
the good news was I only had to take the carbs apart 2 times to get it kinda running and then took it to a professional to get it synced and tuned correctly.

I also picked up a parts bike that is identical about a week ago and have already robbed two parts off it (saving my self $80) but I have not decided if I am going to fix up the parts bike or scavenge it to death.

I have already put on 200 miles in one week just commuting to work and back. (we did have 2 days of really crappy weather) and almost gave my self hypothermia on monday riding home in 40 degree temps at 4 am.
