Hi everyone. I've been lurking for a month, which is about as long as I've owned my '85 XJ700 Maxim. I started out knowing nothing, but it's incredible how much you can learn just reading a forum.

    So, just saying hi.

Welcome to you Loose, hope you found the chat useful and were able to apply it to your machine. To augment the forum, have you purchased a manual on your bike yet? Single best investment you can make in your machine. It will help make any job managable. Best of luck to you in your travels.

Before I found this forum, I got fleeced on eBay for a CD with just the factory service manual on it.

Since finding this forum, I've got the XJCD on order for cheaper than the previous CD I had ordered. Oh well.

I've been reading that service manual, reading the forum, and understanding a little bit more every time on both sides.

I have had no joy with any of the "factory" CDs. They tend to be darn near useless! I'm still waiting patiently for my XJCD (ordered begining of June) but I'm chomping at the bit for the bugger. My brother bought a pirated (the seller represented the CD as legitimate) service manual of FleaBay too, the creep wanted to know why my brother reported his butt! I purchased the manual for my wife's Passat from Robert Bently pubs and the stupid thing keeps looping when I try to print the service interval chart. I ended up buying the printed version (spent a fortune to learn this lesson).
