Last winter I bought the same barend mirrors that are in Kevins video.
You can see one real good at about 19 sec in.
Putting them on last weekend I ran into problems.
First the handle bar wieghts had to come out, the mounts go in to deep.
Second once mounted, as you can see in the video.
The mount faces forward, sticking out about an inch.
The clutch lever hits the mount now.
It actuates the clutch but sitting at a light you can't pull it all the way in, causing fatigue in that hand.

My question to those who have gone before me is, can I just cut down the handle bar wieght with out any adverse handling?
I figure I can buy a clutch lever an inch short no bigggie.
The throttle side should not be a problem as the brake lever doesn't pull that far back.
    Any insite would be appreciated.

    Hound,

I have not seen the video, but I have put barend mirros on my Seca 650 and have found that there was no change to the handling of the bike. The bars I used were stock, but had no weights in them.

The clutch lever is a pain tho. Thought about cutting the ball off at the end of the lever.

I can't watch youtube at work, but I have barend mirrors on my drag bars and have no problems. Are you using these on stock bars?

Hound, you're probably refering to these mirrors rigth?

If so.... I just cut the ball end off about half way or so or even a bit more or all the way, you can cut yours until you go and buy your shorter ones, or just ride as is and save the money. I don't have the weights in my handlebars either and never had them in my stock ones as well.

i agree cut off your balls :) ditch the weights, the mirrors are your weights now
or get longer grips, slide the controls up the bars

So I mounted the left mirror.
Still can't believe I couldn't figure out to move the lever.
*hangs head and shakes it side to side*
Cruising it is fine but, as soon as I get on it the mirror is useless.
It turns rode signs into brightly colored circular patterns.
Cars that are more then 100ft back just disappear into a scrambled mosh of rode and color.
Unless the car is gray then it just disapears.
So at lights or under 5K it is fine but, when you're getting on it and want to check for the man in the rearview it sucks.
Is this just because I bought crappy plastic/metal mirrors or are all bar end mirror prone to unuseable vibration?
I was thinking maybe some lead adhesive aluminum wheel wieght stuck to the arm might settle the vibration down.

I had hoped this would allow me to see behind, it drives me nuts not to know who is there.
I would need to move the stock mirrors out 5-6 inch to make them work.
    Any ideas?

I put on the same bar end mirrors like the ones in iadubber's picture and they work great, no distortion at any speed and I never ran into a clearance problem with the levers. I might machine the opening at the top wider to allow me to flip the mirrors a little more upright

I don't have any ideas. BUT I just wrote a post regarding cheap stuff we buy. I have a feeling that there are better bar end mirrors out there. Mine took a dump on my as I was removing them from my drag bars onto my clubman bars, they just won't hold tight. Once you have tightened that bolt all the way and for some reason you hit the mirror, it will slip inside the bar and will not grip like it used to. Mine also shake a lot at the same rpms.

I gotta get myself something better. If Iwas you I'll try to get a refund, and use that money towards better quality ones.
