Just got a crappy running seca and decided to clean the carbs to see if that did anything. while i was at it I added the pod style filters. after reading some of the forum topics I found out what a headache I was in for. I decided to put the old box and filter back on and now the bike won't run at all...any suggestions would be great.

with the pod filters I could get it to start but only if I covered one or two of the filters with my hand. I could really feel the vacuum effect by doing this. as far as I know the problem was that I was getting to much air so why won't it start now that I have put everything back to day 1.

figures that I would try and do something good and mess things up worse.LOL

I have never understood the pod fascination. Anyway tell us a bit more about won't start and exactly what you did to the carbs when you cleaned them.

Did you completely disassemble ( break the rack?)

Thanks I just noticed a small but steady drip from the (I don't even know what is, a clear plastic cone running in line with the fuel line) also found no clamps holding the lines in place. on my way to the auto parts store now.

As far as the cleaning goes, it wasn't a complete tear down or anything one of my buddies removed the bowls and did something with a guitar string to the jets. he did most of the work, my thing is paint. but now that he is gone I really don't even know where to start. I know he didn't break the rack apart. we did as much as we could with out buying rebuild kits. That is for the next time he comes over.

While the pods were on it would start if something was covering most of the filter (my hand mostly) and it did run before I started with anything. Now that I have put things back (stock box) it turns over but won't even pretend to start just turns over and over.

OK basics - Gas, oil and spark.

Verify you have good spark. Make sure your plugs are clean.

If the bike sat for a while you need to do a real cleaning. Read around the forum - you will see most of us did 3 or 4 "cleanings" before we did it right.
