    Mikunis Vs Hitachi

What is the difference..? I have two XJ 750s The one that I am working on has the Hitachi’s carbs. The parts bike has Mikunis. Both set of carbs need rebuilt. I think the Mikunis has be rejetted. But I dont know. What should I do. Exchange them or not?

Welcome. The carbs work basically the same but have differences in parts and setup.

Interesting you have 2 750s one with each type are they the same models?

Why do you think they need to be rejeted?

I was told that the Mikunis had been rejetted.. I hope they both dont have to be. Both of them are 81 xj750rh. The one with the Mikunis has pods on it... They did a terrible job! The other was a daily driver until the previous owner bought a Guzzi. The last bike I rode was a Suzuki 550. I cant wait to get it going. All I have left to do is rebuild the carbs and the MC. This site has helped alot!

Someone might have swapped them out. If they had pods they probably had new jets. Take the daily rider and do a complete rebuild and cleaning - you won't regret it.

    Different years?

I do believe the 750 ONLY came with Hitachis, but I could be wrong.

Is one a YICS motor, and one not?

Both are YICs… both run. They must have had different trim packages. The parts had black covers, mikunis, and a steering damper. Maybe someone just messed with it?

Hmm look at the VINS and then look in our Supporting Vendor Chacal - He has a great breakdown that will tell you a lot about both your bikes..
