im a space freak (although i dont know nearly as much information about it that i do other pursuits) so im getting one of those for Christmas. even if i have to give it to myself...

then after i read it ill go to the NASM in dc and start a tear down and rebuild of the CMs they have on display. i wonder if Chacal stocks any repair parts for them?

I would imagine something as big as this, 176 pages won't be enough...

Probably had fewer moving parts than your bike...

I'd hate however to see the wiring diagrams for that thing...

I've heard that the "Furbie" doll has a faster processor than the LEM.

LEM had something like 4K of memory. Amazing how we can get to the moon on shoe strings and spit but now a days we can't build crap in america. Well, okay, my bike has had some shoe strings and spit involved in it, but you know what I mean.

    Making everything disposable = Profit.
    Planned obsolescence = Profit.
Farming out manufacturing to China = Profit.
Making a product that lasts a long time = Not so much.

The book arrived yesterday. It is a hardcover published May 2009, It reads as a history of the space race and the technology it created. Filled with great pictures and diagrams, tons of interesting facts. Covers the Rockets, LEM, Lunar buggy, the suits and more. If you have any interest in the history of the lunar landing it appears to be a very well written book.
