Howdy all, been searching for problem & dangerous areas to look for on a bike that's been sitting for years. I've come up with these, do you have something to add?
In my case, it's been garaged- just old.

    -rear brakes
    -throttle shaft seals
    -fork seals
    -front brakes
    -carbs..
    -replace gas/oil
    -tires

In addition to both of your lists, I'll add replacing the fuse block.

Are the plug wires on the 700's separately replaceable then? On the earlier bikes they're permanently attached to the coils.

The stock fuse block wants to ruin your day! Kill it with fire before it strikes!

The problem is usually not dryrot. The clips that hold the fuses get corroded and brittle. You often can't see the corrosion, and the moment you try to bend the clips to make them fit tighter, they snap.

this man speaks the truth. i used a small 6 fuse block from radio shack that takes atc fuses. very easy swap if your good with a soldering iron (i prefer to solder the wires on vs using push terminals)
