I got home from work to find it pouring rain, high winds and a tornado watch.

    DAMMIT!

But the storm cleared up by 5:30 and I decided it was now, or wait another week because of the rain.

    FINALLY!

After all the headaches, cussing, screamin, kicking stuff around the garage, going back and forth from the PC and the manual, and late nights bent over carburetors my Seca is up and running.

He started right up, idled perfect. Let him warm up for about 5 minutes while I gathered up my gear and put air in that damn back tire. Put it down in first and off I went. You couldn't wipe the grin off my face for the hour and a half I was out. Heck I'm still smilin'!

I went to work and showed it off a bit, then it looked like rain so I figured I'd better head home.

I have every one of you to thank for putting up with my, often times frustrating questions, weird technical terms, and the confusion. With out you guys this could have never happened and I would have sold the bike a long time ago.

Tomorrow is my day off, if it doesn't rain, guess where I'll be?

You'll be the same place I will be... out on the road on the bike!

Congrats. We're getting the same nasty weather here in central Kentucky... seems like it has rained all year. Finally supposed to clear up for tomorrow (though more storms for the weekend). :(

Great to hear but Rain hehe Y does that stop you?? I rode in the rain today put on the leather and full face instead of the mesh and half. If you got some rain pants slide them on and go. My bike is my only ride so rain or shine I gotta get to work. IMO it makes you a better rider to go out and ride in all conditions. U need to be prepared for it if you ever go on a trip or long ride and get caught in the wet stuff.

You are not a true biker until you've ridden in the rain.

Outstanding that you do your own wrenching. Perservering through difficulty and ultimately being successful is what real self-esteem is all about.
Take a bow. You deserve it.

Oh, and motorcycles are all FEMALE. Even yours. That'
s a tradition that goes back to the earliest days of wooden boats. All forms of mechanized transport are female. Planes, trains and automobiles. It's the QUEEN Mary, not the King Richard. And it was the Memphis Belle, not the 'Bama Beau. Sorry. :)

    happy trails,
    Christopher.

Congrats Belle I know it's been a long haul. I know you would melt in the rain - most of our friends here don't understand a true southern belle. I have been married to one for 24 years so I know them well ;)

I like the way you put that. That is exactly what my commute was like this morning.

That, dear sir, is entirely a cultural thing. The former USSR referred to all inanimate objects in the masculine tense. There are other cultures that have this affinity as well but which they are escapes me at the moment.
I say let the lady decide and let's ride!

Bravo Belle! I love that "can't wipe this smile off my face" phase, I'd like to have it more often!

That was my ride home yesterday! A full hour for me to remember that I need to get some rain pants....

And the transports being female isn't necessarily true. The US Navy refers to enemy ships / transports as it

I'm sorry, as much as you boys would like it, I will not refer to something I ride as a SHE.

I have ridden in the rain before, but until I get a little more experience I don't feel confident enough to ride in the rain. I haven't even gone out side of the city limits of Morristown lol I think I have about 200 miles under my belt in the year I've owned HIM.

Robert, you are very close. In Russian language, all inanimate objects do have a gender, although they are not all male. Things like car, battery, tire, etc (most words end with "a" or "ya") are considered female. Some objects are male, like motorcycle, engine, computer, etc.. (most words end with a consonant). Yet some other things are kind of, ahem, in the middle, like rifle, wine, beer (words end with "o" or "io"). Sounds weird, but at least there's no argument over an objects "gender"

Thanks for the language lesson Stereo. I have only a passing knowledge of Russian (that is to say none). My understanding hails from back in the good old days (when Ronny was running things, God rest his soul) and we were chasing some of that Soviet iron around in the water. I appreciate the clarification.

Same here. My riding in the rain is more of an experience factor for me considering I've been riding for just a little less than a year. I actually got hit by a huge downpour when I went up to OH to buy my latest project and the raindrops were so big they left bruises on my arms. Wasn't expecting rain and wasn't in the forecast.

Don't have the gear or the comfort level yet to ride HER in the rain, but it will happen. I don't mind the rain... heck, I've been caught out in the Jeep many a time with the top off. The looks you get going down the interstate in a downpour are priceless. :)

You outta try it for 10 days of a 14-day trip.

One of the most beautiful rides I've ever had was late one warm evening heading west right after a line of thunderstorms had gone through; the sunset had everything lit red and orange and there was mist rising from the trees and the pavement. It just wouldn't have been the same from inside a car...
