Hey guys just joined the site been here reading non stop the last 2 days looking at all the bobber projects they look great! Well for starters I will let you know a bit about me... I have been riding bike almost my whole life (Started when i was 4) Was on dirt till i was 19 then i got a street bike started stunting in and have just been doing that for the past two years... the fact that anytime i am on the street on my 636 i cant just ride and end up doing something stupid made me stop riding the street and stay in the lots to stunt and i really wanted another bike that i would just be able to ride around on so i started looking in to getting a triumph to build in to a bobber but last i found a 1980 xj650 for 75$ the other day and looked in to them and for 75$ for a bike to start with and the way they look when finished i could not pass it up... Down side is the bike has no tittle but i will figure something out with that later on... The xj i got is trashed though Lol it is a heep but hey that makes for more fun building it up! No carbs no front brakes, starter, lots of the wiring is gone... Things like that Anyways i guess i will shut up and show you what the bike looks like right now!! hope to have it looking 10x better soon!

    Welcome abourd.
Titles are state dependant. Every state is different so you'll have to check with DMV.
Good luck! that is a good project

this bike isnt in any worse shape than the one that is in the middle east...

i cant find the thread but his looked like it had been buried in sand and mud...

he stripped it all down to bare frame (i think) and then started cleaning and repairing...

take lots of before pictures and lots of in progress pictures and then lots of finished pictures...

Ohh and last night while checking everything over... we had noticed that the front wheel was not turning very well... so i went to look and who ever put it on the last time screwed everything up they put the rotor on the outside of the caliper and jammed the axle in... so the axle is bent it broke one of the forks and really messed up the other fork and maybe messed up the rotor... Go team! lol

Okay another question... for the left side when making the hardtail.. To make the tab to bolt on.. What thickness should i use? 1/4? or would a 3/16 work just fine?
