after a short get reacquainted period with my 81-550, it might be on the way out the door...

3 bikes is more than i want to have in the garage and more than i want to insure and tag...

i dont ride the max because its a bit small for me and its definitely too small for my wife to ride with replacement knees...

its all cleaned up and sitting in the garage sale. the wife says theres been considerable interest, with one guy wanting to take it to california...

nothing is certain though until the CASH is in HAND...

im asking $1,000.00 in case anyone is wondering...

It's a sad day when you say goodbye to a nice bike like that, Lt & $1000 seems too cheap, but maybe I have a southern hemisphere head.
I too have 3 bikes in the garage, now & madam said the other day "it's getting a bit crowded in here", ominous. :(

too cheap Dave you should be asking at least $1500 with what I'm seeing on CL in our area these days.

    REALLY....

ive not seen too many around but my wife said there were a lot of guys looking. i would think if a grand was too cheap it would have gone already...

if no one bites on it, ill hold on and CL it. at a better price! :D

i just never really give it the attention it needs (riding) so it gets left home too much...

    thanks for the words...

well the garage sale is over and the Maxim is back in the garage...

it didnt sell at $1,000 and this morning i put a new price of $1,300 on it based on BigFitz52s suggestion...

one girl looked at it and called someone who supposedly told her "you need that!"

well i gave her a flyer and thats as far as its gone...

MiCarl said a month ago that he might have a buyer but otherwise i think its going on Craigslist. or maybe just back in the garage...

You can never tell Dave I guy looked at my bike an hour before I bought it and passed. It just takes the right buyer. 1000 sounds a bit low to me too for a bike in that condition.

On 2 wheels... just lost my hat.
a lot of people worry about a bike that is nearly 30 years old. a lot of them don't understand anything about how it was kept, maintained, etc.
I would bet anything someone will come by and give you your asking price.
around here in KC, that is a steal

Stick to the $1300 and once the F** weather BREAKS around here, put it on CL. It'll sell.

You definetely need to re-consider your asking price... $1300 is fair.
Your giving it away at $1000.

I just got back form an XS11 gathering in Hurst,TX. Completed installion of the tank on the 81 XJ550 Seca and decided to list it on Craigslist. 15minutes later I had a guy call who lived 3 imles away. he came and got it for $900. It was no where near the condition of yours...

strangely, sometimes a higher price will sell faster than cheaper, if it's cheap people have the idea that there's something cheap about it, more expensive=value....go figure
