Here's my version of the YICS blank off tool, main difference is the threaded plug & the use of only 3 expanding rubber collets.
The tool is inserted into the YICS chamber & the threaded plug screwed in, then the 'handle' on the rod is turned CCW which expands the collets.
Very quick & easy to use.
The rubber is vac' pipe & has been tested with the blow torch, it does not ignite, but will only become hard under the flame.

So turning the handle tightens the nut at the other end causing the expansion? What holds the nut or does just the "bind" from the whole assembly provide enough drag?

I LIKE it. The vac line holds up to a torch, but how about direct contact with really hot aluminum? Automotive vacuum line from the local parts counter I assume?

Have you actually tried it yet on a hot motor?

yeah, you should try rolling the vac line around on mama's aluminum skillet for a minute after you have heated it up to 4 or 5 hundred degrees

Wiz, I'm very excited about this. I did not know you'd go THIS far to find an answer. But if you dont do it, who will? I'm very interested in your verdict when all your testing and stuff is completed.
    With respect mahn

The end of the threaded rod is tripple lock nutted, so turning the rod CCW tightens the whole assembly & compresses the rubber in the normal way. Don't forget the plug is threaded through it's centre.
I havn't tried it on a hot motor, my 650 is pre YICS. but it is a simple job to change out those rubbers if something better comes along.

It looks like he has it threaded into the bolt that threads into the port. Thats why he only needed 3 block-offs. Turning it counter-clockwise would tighten it up in the port.

Nice job Wiz! And Quicker than I !

Oh, got it; didn't realize the plug was threaded thought the rod was a slip-fit. Makes sense now.
