4 into 1 header

Any body make there own 4 into 1 header? did you use the factory down pipes, get a collector and route a single pipe out?. I see a 4 into 1 on eBay but they want like $350 bucks for it, not in my budget, then there looks like a home made used one for $199 but Id rather make my own.

 

I have a 4 into 1 Yoshimura pipe on my bike. It is a complete exhaust system. I believe I paid about $300.00 for it way back in about 1985. It was the same price as two new factory mufflers, which had already rusted out. I had to remove the center stand for the pipe to fit and you can't remove the oil filter cover completely without taking off the pipes. You can take the filter out but can't drop the cover between the down pipes. It sounds good but has created a slight flat spot at 5K rpm that I've lived with ever since. Photos in my gallery.

i picked up a 4 into 1 for my 550 maxim still need the mufflers but i'll find them i'm sure. What i wanted to know is the mod worth it.I mean do you find that much of a diffrence in power over the stuck system

 

Probably not going to make much difference. Carbs are the bigger restriction. I only want to put it on for looks. If I wanted to go fast Ida kept my ZX10 Ninja

 

I have a bassani 4 into 1 with a small rust spot, getting ready to repair or replace the muffler i`ll post if i go custom or not.
