Trying to decide on a headlight for this xj project build
    [IMG]

The build is being documented here

It's down to #1 which I like because the front angle of the lens should pretty closely match the angle of the forks...

Or #2 which I like just because it's unigue and I think the style would fit the bike...

I like #1. It's round but still unique, and I agree that the angle matching the rake of the forks would be cool. #2 looks like the killer laser from War of the Worlds. I think it's a little too out there for a bike this old.

ya don't HAVE to pick one dave....these are just the ones I narrowed it down to after 2 days of surfing... if you have something better in mind, I'm all eyes 8O

Yup , my thoughts too, but I also thought it would tie in kinda nicely with the integrated tail light...

headlights are one of things that are starting to make me throw up a little bit in my mouth everytime i see a 'new modern' bike. i mean really? oh really?

im not sure the designers are coming to work straight. i think theyve hitting the sake a bit too hard first thing in the morning...

and just so i dont get any grief about picking on the jap bikes, the dual headlight set up on the street bob from the motor company looks icky too...

Looking at your build so far I think you need a classic 5" bates or something chunky maybe even small cowl to give it some stature and tie in with the style of the rear fender maybe something like a classic gpz style bar fairing

I like #2 because it looks JUST like an eyeball, and I've never seen it.
But I'm concerned about chrome quality, if it's cheap Chinese junk.
Overall quality and light output also need to be thought of.

I think you need to get one of those 4-5" round jobs with the black bucket AND black ring...I think that would go better with the overall style of the bike. Of course, it's up to you to decide your own style.

Got any links or pics?? I like the idea ...just can't mentally picture it.... The area between the forks at the neck of the bike is about 6"x6" , so I need something to 'fill' that space....

If anyone has something 'different' in mind ..post a pic
Thanks for all the input so far guys...

Those are both beautiful lamps, but I vote #2. It's unique. #1 is nice and all and the slant would definitely fit in, but you don't see a lamp like #2 every day. Plus it looks like it would have a wider spread. Either way go HID!

Mad, I was cruising around the net looking for a light for my project. #1 was in the top three on my list. I def like it better than #2.

sheeeesh...a lotta help you guys were.....well, guess I'm on my own.. 8O j/k :D The polls confirm my quandary. Finding the right headlight might be tougher than I thought....Maybe I'll have to come back to this once I start assembling everything. It's not like I don't have anything else to do on this project... Thanks for all the input and ideas guys! If any one has more ideas...feel free to chime in 8)
