Jetting/mufflers

    Will I need to re jet if I do away with the mufflers? oh sorry it is a xj650, 1982. I was thinking of pulling the guts out of the mufflers.

    you shouldnt have to. typically only if you change something on the intake side... these bikes are designed to flow a lot more on the exhaust than the intake.

    Ok cool thanks. I probably need to have the carbs adjusted any way I don't know how long it sat before I got it. I know it set through last winter and I don't know what has been done to it before that. Do you know any body around here that has the tools and knowledge to sync them?

    there is a guy that posts on craigslist that will do it for 75. he will clean and set the carbs for 50 each. not a bad price to have it done. however, I dont have his number anymore. if you can, give the old man at cyclops a call. the dude is really good at his work. he is in merriam about a mile north of johnson drive. give him a call.
    When I sync, I usually borrow the tools to do it.
