I was bored today and drained the engine and the hypoid oil, probly been in there for 5 years, and I wont be able to get oil into either till tues, it wont do harm to the internals will it?
    Thanks! :D
BTW, the Valvoline motorcycle engine oil says it has friction modifiers in it, is that bad?

You'll be fine on both counts. Might be a good idea to put the drain plugs back in, though, to keep bugs, dust, moisture, etc. out of the internals.

But they aren't going to rust apart in a couple of days. Just don't let it sit that way for weeks on end.

I dont know about the friction modifiers, but I switched from valvoline mc oil to castrol 4t mc oil and the castrol makes my bike run smoother with less vibration.

Hey thanks fellas, Ya I did stick my oil filter housing and all plugs back in.
Is that Castrol synthetic? I want to stay away from that.

No, Castrol 4T is conventional dinosaur juice formulated for 4-stroke motorcycles. I have switched to it from good 'ol GTX because they started adding the "anti-sludge" stuff.

I ended up for my first oil change getting valvoline 10w40 for MC's to run in it for about 400 miles to clean her out, then I will try the Castrol 4t 20w50 for my longer riding.
Basicly I wont be riding since I have no forks yet, but wanted to start her up without all that bad oil that has been in there for over 5 years sloshing about.
I also got some valvoline 80w90 gear oil for my rear diff, it is gl-5 non synthetic. I saw at napa they had 85w90 gl-4 for 4 bucks more, should I take back the gl-5? I read some posts in here about the diffrences but didnt come to any conclusions.
And one more question, I got some lucas oil carb and injector cleaner, one little bottle will do 25 gallons in a car is this safe for a bike, and how much should I put in the bike tank at a time?
    Thanks! :D

Why change from Valvoline? I've run Valvoline since I've been riding and have zero problems with it. Used Racing Formula 20-50 back in the day and have run 20-50 motorcycle specific since it's been around. Living in Texas I prefer the 20-50.

I have read from diffrent fellas that diffrent oils run in each machine diffrent, Im not persay gonna switch but more like try diffrent oils to see which preform better in mah machine. I went to auto zone and brought my oils up to the counter and they said hey you have $20 credit here from using your autozone card.
Pretty cool to think your going in to spend 20 but end up getting your stuff without cash out of pocket!

You have to sign up for their rewards card; then after you spend $20 or more on 5 trips you get $20 back.

My cage uses 6qts of expensive and very specific synthetic at every oil change; the program works great for me.
