So... I feel bad for complaining, given Bill's situation. So I shall not complain, just tell the story.

I live next to a grain elevator... they spray painted all of the bins, on a windy day, while the bike was in the drive.

Long story short, every vehicle we own has silver speckles on it now, including the bike, that wasn't even two weeks old at the time.

I think it will come off of the car/van with a power washer, but does anyone have any advice for getting it off the bike without scuffing anything?

(I'm trying to contact the foreman to see who did the paint job... it was outsourced, so if I figure out the company, maybe they'll take care of it.)

On a side note: It shows on the seat the worst... and the seat has a vented cover, I don't know if I see that part being easy.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I had the same thing happen to my boat, brown specs over white fiberglass. It took several washings with lots of soap and water. The soap seemed to help loosen the paint. It took a few washings to get rid of it all.

I had silver specs all over mine. Rubbing or polishing compound and varsol took off the specs. Go slow and make sure you aren't hurting the paint you want to keep.

You might give Marquis Car Cleaner/Wax a go. I have generally had pretty good luck with it in similar situations. If that doesn't do it, you can try using the clay bar option.

Before you try anything you must talk to the Co that did the spraying & find out what paint was used, then look into removing it, jump in & you might do more harm.

might be too late but try to get the stuff off the chrome and aluminum before you ride it and bake it on

I would get in touch with the co. that owns the grain elevator and complain to them first. Then, get the Co. who is responsible for the painting and tell them, they have to clean up the mess they made. They just can't paint the whole country side even if it was windy that day.

I agree with other the posters. This is their responsibility. Don't give them the easy option out by fixing it yourself!

Well, after really examining my wife's car (which was so much worse), I marched on over to the elevator and got a card for the company that did the job.

Awfully nice and apologetic, they came by the next day to clean it off... with an organic solvent made from oranges. Came right off - it's marketed to remove tar. Even left me a bottle of it in case I find something else.

Im glad some people dont hold grudges. If it were me I probably would have gone over to the grain elevator and painted it(guess what I would have painted on it) :p

I truly thought about painting it... with some of the bed liner I still have lying around...

Unfortunately, when I first seen the stuff all over everything, I'm sure half the town heard me say that I was going to go paint it; my wife pointed out that I had made it unfeasible. :( Although... now the problem is solved... mayhaps I should go through with it, I've had to fall down the suspect list a couple spots.
