My 85 XJ700 run great around town or on highway :D After ive run it for a while and go to stop every once in a while mostly when im about to park it. it just dies before I turn it off :? Then it wont crank over till I mess with the battery wires. Could this just be something simple like the battery/wires are malfunctioning or maybe altenator problems :?:

On 2 wheels... just lost my hat.
if you have to mess with the wires, I would say that it's a battery connection or perhaps a bad wire itself.
do the lights come one when you turn the key?

Yes Helmet, the lights still come on everything works but the starter you press the starter button and...nothing. Gonna have to break out the ol meter I guess. Has to be something really simple.

backblast - my 85 xj700 was doing the same thing. I found that the ground wire off of the battery was old and corroded. Replaced it with new 4 gauge wire and the problem stopped completely.

It was real scary when it all of a sudden just died on the highway after a bump.
