    downs=loss of suspension travel.

    BEST way: Extend the lower shock mounts rearward; OR fit shorter shocks.

    Put 10.5" shocks on my ride and it's low...even with it set on the highest setting, I bottom out on the highway hitting a big bump. With a passenger, the tire pressure becomes the shock absorber. As well, I had to modify the signal light wiring to prevent short-outs from happening while riding. I'm happy with the results, but it's not for everybody!

    Extending the rear shock mount rearward will also change the leverage ratio on the shock

    I believe that the Suzuki Savage shocks (eBay) will fit right on and, lower the seat at least 2-3 inches.

    I took my shocks apart and removed 1" from the springs. That's about all you can take off without them bottoming out when you hit a bump. It lowered the bike alot and rides perfect.
    *Just a note:
    Some seem to think you will need to cut 1-1/2" off the springs to lower the rear of the bike 1-1/2"...WRONG! By cutting the springs 1", you end up with a softer spring and it will settle the bike down enough without changing the handling.
    I have two pairs of stock shocks, so I had room to experiment a bit. I first went with 1/2" cut off the springs, which only made a very small difference in lowering it (not enough for me) so I decided to go the full 1" and it turned out well for me.
    Mines an '82 750 Seca and I weigh 135 lbs. So you will need to compensate for your weight when cutting your springs.
    Between switching from the stock rear wheel (18") to the wheel from a 750 Maxim (16") and cutting the shocks, I lowered the rear of the bike about 3"+ and it handles just fine. I did NOT lower the front at all (some say you have to to make it handle right) I do scrape my footpegs from time to time when I corner real fast but it's not an issue.
